#26 Itty-Bitty Chunks

Affirmation for Transformation: “When I chunk my projects into a few daily steps I can manage them without feeling overwhelmed.” 

To complete our projects and desires it takes passion, and we know how powerful setting our intentions and lining up with it is.  Affirmations help us align with our desires. Affirmations are an important first step in affirming what we want to create. Completion takes passion; you feel it in your heart, and you know what your desire feels like.  Reality is perception and the truth is the calibration to your Inner  Cheerleader, (inner being/higher self}.   The path of most allowance and least resistance is your truth.  The question is how much truth can you let in?  And is there anything else you can do that will help you stay focused? When we divide the desire, project, or plan into Itty-Bitty Chunks we can complete it fully and successfully.

Each Itty-Bitty Chuck only takes a small amount of our time and is much simpler to focus on.  The Itty-Bitty Chunk when completed builds momentum, and you created a successful step. Setting aside a small portion of our day to complete a small task and feeling successful about it will build satisfaction and confidence to finish larger projects.   Practicing Itty-Bitty Chunk Management© to accomplish our desires, will help eliminate feeling overwhelmed.  Often we feel so overwhelmed by focusing on the end result; already trying to control outcomes, the “big thing”, and wondering how you are ever going to accomplish this.  Focusing on the whole project at once often stops us from doing anything and at the end of the week we have accomplished nothing.   Worse yet when you allow the self-doubt to derail you and self-sabotage your success.  We become distracted and disconnected from the flow of energy to that desire.  Energy led by fear, stressed out, is different than, the opposite which, is ten times more powerful with intent, aligned, and living on purpose. Being mindful of our thoughts is important and keeping positive. Pushing against gives you an excuse to be more resistant, more reasons not to be in allowance. 

Is there more to it than that?  Motivation comes from the Latin word movere, which means to move.  It takes energy to move things and a vision can call forth incredible effort but is it enough?   Susan Pierce Thompson, PhD believes there is more we can do to have better results when it comes to healthy eating.  She says that our willpower is consistently being depleted due to our lifestyle.  It is hard to have the energy to fuel willpower when we are stressed, overworked, and too busy to think about all the more, overwhelming, choices.   Susan Pierce Thompson teaches how Brightline Eating allows us to replace willpower.  The Brightline concept provides a clear boundary, we don’t cross, and consistent, and reliable results, we practice, until automatic.  I believe this concept can be applied to help us focus on any desire.  

The first step is to “Reduce Your Choices”.  

Itty-Bitty Chunk Management© helps you reduce your choices.  

Planning and preparation are huge because we don’t have to make easy, but not-so-good choices when our willpower is depleted.  Plan the steps, rehearse the steps, and reprogram your brain into a new outcome.  Rewrite the program by making small choices and began to rewrite a new one.  Plan to not be a slave to the conditions in your environment.  Observation and awareness are the same word, step back into the most general place as you can about the outcome.

Write down your steps: to your project, your focus tasks, or the healthier food choices, what you are going to do, or choose for the next day.  Don’t rely on your willpower to focus on doing the right, best thing.  We don’t plan to fail; we fail to plan.  The desire is to reduce your choices to make the what and when a simple choice, a habit, just like brushing your teeth.  Willpower is unreliable.  Accomplish your desires by simplifying your choices, planning, and preparing the what and when for the next day, the next day, and the next.

When you plan and divide your desired projects into Itty-Bitty Chunks, and focus on that, just for today, at the moment, you will see each completed and successful!  If that means that you only spend 15 minutes on your project today and you completed that chunk, then that is a successful day!  We live in a world full of distractions, when you practice the skill of Itty-Bitty Chunk Management by planning and preparing the what and when you can be successful!   Your My Year of Transformation Planner is a great tool to do just that!  You have plenty of room to write down your desires, plans, and all your steps, and place your intentions on the daily spaces provided.  Remember you can align with who you are at any time to stay inspired!  Simplify your life by allowing time to focus on what is important.  We don’t plan to fail; we fail to plan.
